The Baghdad Memory Project

    By documenting all sorts of information on Baghdad's history, culture, economy etc, the project seeks above all to preserve the modern memory of our illustrious capital city and to enable Iraqi scholars and university students to have an easy and a direct access to all kinds of information that they require for their researches.

    The project consists of three separate stages. In the first stage, a comprehensive inventorying will be made of all information on Baghdad. In the second stage, all the obtained information will be copied on microfilms and microfiches in order to be used by scholars and university students. In the final stage, a comprehensive encyclopedia of the city of Baghdad will prepared that will include all fields of knowledge, such as history, sociology, economy, geography, demography and music.

    It is worth noting that the first stage of the project has commenced at the beginning of this year (2006). It is expected that the first stage will be completed at the end of the next year (2007).
